Kovur MLA Files Complaint over YSRC Leader's Misogynistic Remarks

On Tuesday, hundreds of women took to the streets of Kovur holding placards and chanting “Prasanna Down Down” slogans. They demanded that the former MLA be immediately arrested for his inappropriate and degrading remarks against Prasanthi Reddy.

Nellore: Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy has formally lodged a police complaint against ex-MLA Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy of YSRCP for the latter’s July 7 remarks at a public meeting in Kovvur.

In her complaint, Prasanthi Reddy alleged that the former legislator had made personal innuendos against her, alluding that her husband “could be killed in sleep or on the road.”

She charged that Prasanna Kumar Reddy is exhibiting a “pattern of political misogyny” with his remarks. “Such assaults degrade women in public office and incite wider intimidation.

The former MLA wanted that legal provisions be invoked against the former YSRCP MLA for obscenity, sexual harassment, defamation, intentional insult, criminal intimidation and outraging the modesty of a woman.

In the interim, Prasanna Kumar Reddy has lodged a complaint with Nellore 4th Town police about goons attacking his house on Monday night. He alleged that the attackers would have killed him had he been at home at the time of attack. The former MLA accused that Vemireddy couple Prabhakar Reddy and Prasanthi Reddy are behind the attack.

Former minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav demanded that an attempt to murder case be filed against the attack on Prasanna Kumar Reddy. He charged that despite a detailed complaint being filed with video evidence, not a single person has been arrested so far.
