Kothuru Court in Srikakulam Sentences Man in Sathya Sai Baba Temple Theft Case

Police registered a case and filed a charge sheet after completing the investigation. Additional Public Prosecutor L. Nagabhushanam represented the prosecution.

Visakhapatnam: A court in Kothuru of Srikakulam district has sentenced a man to three years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 in a 2006 temple theft case.

Sub-inspector Venkatesh said Polumahanti Prasad Rao was convicted for stealing silver feet belonging to Sathya Sai Baba from a temple in Parapuram village on January 9, 2006. The stolen silver, weighing 28 tolas and valued at Rs.56,000, was recovered within 26 hours of the complaint filed by village sarpanch Kunchala Ratnalu.

Police registered a case and filed a charge sheet after completing the investigation. Additional Public Prosecutor L. Nagabhushanam represented the prosecution.

Judicial First Class Magistrate Kandikatla Rani held the charges were proved beyond reasonable doubt and ordered an additional six months’ imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
