Konaseema Witness Big Blowout After A Gap Of 30 Years

The other major incident had been when the gas pipeline of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) blew up in 2014 at Nagaram village in Mamidikuduru mandal of Konaseema district

Kakinada: Konaseema people have come across a big blowout once again after 30 years of the Pasarlapudi blow out. The blowout in Pasarlapudi had occurred on January 8, 1995 at Devarlanka village in Allavaram mandal of Konaseema district.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) engaged international experts to cap the blowout. US-based Neeli Adams, an expert in capping blowouts, arrived with his fire-fighters in the area and tried to contain the incident. But he failed.
Later, ONGC local experts themselves capped the well successfully on March 15, 1995. Their fame and expertise have since spread globally.
The other major incident had been when the gas pipeline of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) blew up in 2014 at Nagaram village in Mamidikuduru mandal of Konaseema district.
It left 23 people dead and 16 persons injured. The fire came under control on the same day as soon as the gas ran out.
ONGC officials are observing the situation after Monday’s blowout. The area and its surrounding villages have been declared a danger zone for the next 24 hours.
