K.L Rao Was Instrumental In Several Projects' Execution: Minister
Speaking on the occasion, the minister recalled the great services rendered by Rao in the field of irrigation and praised his key role in the execution of several projects like Hirakud, Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar and others.

Vijayawada: Minister for water resources Nimmala Ramanaidu paid rich tribute to the renowned Indian civil engineer K.L. Rao at Irrigation Model Guest House near Durga Ghat here, commemorating his 124th birth anniversary on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister recalled the great services rendered by Rao in the field of irrigation and praised his key role in the execution of several projects like Hirakud, Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar and others. He credited him for proposing to take up the inter-linking of rivers some 50 years ago in the country.
The minister also credited Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for prioritising the inter-linking of rivers to combat drought in the state and vowed to complete the Polavaram project and redirect Godavari floodwater to benefit north Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. Ramanaidu highlighted that the CM was going all out to ensure every acre is irrigated for the benefit of farmers by adopting the best water management practices.
