Vijayawada: Special prayers, including a Khadgamala archana, were performed at the Sri Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada on Wednesday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking 25 years of his public life.

Rajya Sabha member Lingamaneni Ramesh conducted the rituals following the directions of Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena president K. Pawan Kalyan.

Prayers were offered seeking Goddess Kanaka Durga’s blessings for Modi’s good health, longevity and strength to lead the country towards Viksit Bharat.

Ramesh said India had gained global recognition under Modi’s leadership and was progressing rapidly in various sectors.

He said women, farmers, youth, employees and all sections were receiving importance under the Modi government, which was giving unprecedented priority to infrastructure development.

He said Modi’s special focus on Andhra Pradesh had accelerated works on Amaravati and Polavaram.

The development of the Bhogapuram airport and progress in railway and national highway projects were also signs of the Centre’s priority to the State, he said.

Ramesh prayed for India to become stronger, prosperous and self-reliant and for the Viksit Bharat vision to be realised.

He said the Khadgamala prasadam, Goddess Durga’s portrait and sacred cloth would be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office.
