KGBV Student Dies, Police Seize Suspected Note
Some locals have raised suspicions that an alleged relationship between two girls staying at the same hostel may have been linked to the incident.
Nandyal: A 16-year-old first-year Intermediate student died after allegedly consuming phenyl at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Kothapalli mandal of Nandyal district in the early hours of Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Boya M. Bhavya of M. Lingapuram village. Fellow students found her unconscious in the hostel bathroom and alerted the KGBV staff.
She was initially shifted to the Kothapalli Primary Health Centre and later referred to the Government Community Health Centre in Atmakur. However, doctors declared her dead on examination.
Police reached the hospital and the KGBV and collected details about the incident. They also seized a note suspected to have been written by the student.
Atmakur Rural Circle Inspector Suresh Kumar Reddy and Sub-Inspector Narayana Reddy are conducting an inquiry.
