KCM Ensures Repatriation of Women From Kuwait, Muscat

Konaseema Centre for Migration facilitates return of workers facing abuse abroad

Kakinada: Konaseema Centre for Migration (KCM) has ensured repatriation of two women – V. Durga Bhavani of Kundaleswaram village in Katrenikona mandal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district and Ch. Jaya Lakshmi of Kolamuru village in Rajamahendravaram Rural Mandal of East Godavari district, from Kuwait and Muscat, respectively.

Durga Bhavani had gone to Muscat on employment as a domestic helper in November 2025. Unable to bear heavy household work, she contacted her agent. She had been subsequently transferred to a different household. However, Durga’s hardships worsened. Apart from performing arduous tasks, she had been denied food and had to suffer physical abuse.

Relatives of Durga then approached Konaseema Centre for Migration. With the help of district collector Ravirala Mahesh Kumar, KCM took steps to bring Durga back to India.

Similar had been the case of Jayalakshmi, who had gone as a cook to Kuwait in February 2026. However, her employers forced her to do other work, including household chores and childcare work. They even abused and beat her. She, too, contacted her agent. But her turmoil continued.

Jayalakshmi’s relatives submitted a representation for her repatriation to East Godavari district collector Keerthi Chekuri, who entrusted the task to the Konaseema Centre for Migration, which helped Jayalakshmi return home.

KCM nodal officer V. Subba Rao and coordinator Golla Ramesh said their centre helps migrants who face problems abroad.

Collector Mahesh Kumar advised people seeking employment abroad to contact only government-approved and registered agents. In case they face hardships abroad during the course of their employment, KMC would extend support for their return.
