Kavali Techie Killed in Kashmir Terror Attack

Madhusudhan Rao, an IBM architect from Nellore, was shot dead in front of his wife during a trip.

Nellore: Somisetti Madhusudhan Rao, a native of Kavali town in Nellore district, was among those killed in the terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir while on a family vacation.

Madhusudhan Rao, a senior architect at IBM Software in Bengaluru, had travelled to Jammu on Sunday along with his wife Kamakshi, daughter Medhashree, son Mukund Sreedatta and family friends Nagendra and Jyotsna. Mukund has just been promoted to Class VIII and Medha is pursuing Intermediate.

The deadly attack occurred when Madhusudhan and Kamakshi were taking their pictures.

Relatives said the terrorists confirmed his religion before shooting him pointblank even as Kamakshi pleaded with them to spare him. Their children and the family friends were sitting at a distance when the shooting took place. They fled from the spot out of panic after hearing gunshots.

Madhusudhan hailed from Annala Vari Veedhi in Kavali and was the son of Somishetti Tirupalu and Padma. The family was into the banana trade. Madhusudhan had settled in Bengaluru with his family for the last 12 years because of his employment.

Due to the fragile health of his parents, who are cardiac patients, the family has kept the tragic news confidential. Relatives have informed them that Madhusudhan was injured in a road accident and that he’s undergoing treatment, in an effort to soften the emotional blow.

The mortal remains are being flown to Chennai by a special flight today and will reach Kavali post-midnight. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Kavali town, where locals mourned the untimely loss of a promising professional.
