Karnataka Devotee Dies In Tirumala Ghat Road Mishap

TIRUPATI: A 70-year-old devotee from Karnataka has died while five others were injured when the car in which they were travelling crashed through a roadside railing and plunged into a gorge on the first Tirumala ghat road on Friday.
The accident occurred near the 22nd hairpin bend on the downhill stretch. According to officials, the driver reportedly lost control of the speeding vehicle, which rammed into the protective railing before falling about 15 feet into the gorge.
The deceased was identified as D.R. Satish Kumar, 70, a resident of Karnataka. He died on the spot.
The five injured occupants, including two children, were shifted to SVIMS hospital in Tirupati for treatment. Hospital sources said their condition was stable.
Police, along with Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) security and vigilance personnel, rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operation with the assistance of local residents. The damaged vehicle was later retrieved from the gorge.
Tirumala police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
