Kankipadu: Minor Girl’s Family Seeks Justice Over Pregnancy
According to the girl’s family, both teenagers belong to the same community. In the presence of community elders, the boy’s parents reportedly agreed to the marriage after both attained adulthood.

Kankipadu: A 17-year-old girl allegedly became pregnant after developing a relationship with a 17-year-old boy. Both the boy and the girl belong to Manthena village of Kankipadu. The girl’s mother, after learning about the pregnancy, approached the boy’s family and sought a resolution.
According to the girl’s family, both teenagers belong to the same community. In the presence of community elders, the boy’s parents reportedly agreed to the marriage after both attained adulthood. The boy’s family allegedly demanded Rs.2 lakh as dowry, while the girl’s mother, who is the sole breadwinner of the family, agreed to pay Rs.50,000. The amount was reportedly handed over to one of the community elders.
Following a preliminary investigation, police took the minor boy into custody. Meanwhile, after several months, the pregnant girl reportedly became weak and was shifted to a Child Protection Centre. As she was suffering from anaemia, she was provided a blood transfusion.
The situation reportedly took a turn after the boy’s family came to know about the girl’s condition. His family opposed the proposed marriage, demanding a DNA test.
The girl’s mother is now seeking justice for her daughter and has appealed to the authorities to take appropriate action in the matter.
