Kalyana Mandapam to Facilitate Monthly Kalyanotsavam

He said temples were not merely places of worship but also centres of culture, tradition, spirituality, education and knowledge

NELLORE: The newly constructed Kalyana Mandapam at the Sri Alaganatha Swamy Temple in Atmakur will enable devotees to conduct the monthly Kalyanotsavam on the Sravana Nakshatram day in a grand manner, endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said on Sunday.

Speaking after inaugurating the mandapam, built at a cost of ₹80 lakh, the Minister said it would also provide an affordable venue for poor and middle-class families to conduct marriages and other auspicious functions.

Anam said the temple, which had fallen into disrepair over the years, was restored with the collective efforts of villagers, donors and devotees. He thanked all those who contributed to its revival.

He said temples were not merely places of worship but also centres of culture, tradition, spirituality, education and knowledge. The government’s objective was to strengthen the region’s spiritual heritage and ensure that Sanatana Dharma, Vedic traditions and temple culture were preserved for future generations.

Recalling his earlier tenure as finance minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh until 2014, Anam said he had been fortunate to serve the State and attributed his political journey to the blessings and support of the people of Atmakur.

He said he was once again serving as Endowments Minister and would utilise every opportunity to accelerate development in the constituency.

Temple committee members, local public representatives and a large number of devotees attended the programme.
