Kakinada MP Flays Delay In Fishing Harbour Works
Kakinada MP Tangella Uday Srinivas criticised delays in modernisation works at the fishing harbour despite ₹72.42 crore being sanctioned.

Kakinada Lok Sabha member Tangella Uday Srinivas criticised the delay in commencing modernisation works at the Kakinada Fishing Harbour despite the Centre sanctioning `72.42 crore three months ago.
Presiding over the DISHA meeting on Saturday, Uday Srinivas said the Maritime Board had not even invited tenders for the works. He said he had written to the Union minister seeking funds for the harbour’s modernisation and the Centre had sanctioned the amount, but the Maritime Board officials had allegedly delayed moving the file.
He said completion of the works would improve the livelihood opportunities of thousands of fishermen. Maritime Board Engineer Padmasri said the proposals had been sent to the government for approval.
Uday Srinivas also said officials should create awareness about Central and State government schemes. He said a special resolution had been passed and submitted to the government seeking a uniform crop insurance scheme across the Godavari districts.
District collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad directed officials not to delay Central government works for which funds had already been sanctioned. He also called for greater awareness among farmers about natural farming.
Anaparthi MLA Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy urged agriculture officials to educate farmers about the impact of El Nino on agriculture.
DCCB chairman Tummala Ramaswamy and others attended the meeting.
