Kakinada collector S. Shan Mohan on Monday inspected the Government Boys Hostel at Balaji Cheruvu Centre here, where construction of boarding (`29.75 lakhs) and kitchen, dining hall (`95 lakhs) works are going on.

He demanded the constructions be completed as per project timelines. Social welfare in-charge joint director G. Srinivasa Rao, APEWIDC executive engineer R. Jaya Rao, DE K. Venkata Raju were present among others.
On the eve of fire department week, Shan Mohan visited the district fire office at Ramaraopeta and exhorted the people to be alert. He praised the fire department personnel and suggested they take up awareness drives on gas leakages. District assistant fire officer V. Subba Rao and others were present.
Later in a meeting with irrigation officials, Shan Mohan warned of taking stringent action against those encroaching canal lands. There were allegations that a villager Bikkina Suryanarayana Chowdary of Nayakampalli village in Gandepalli mandal, Kakinada encroached and levelled irrigation land with 500 meters length and 10 metres width for cultivation.
The local farmers alleged that this was keeping 5,000 acres of land in five villages dry due to non-availability of water. After making an inquiry, Shan Mohan directed the officials to book criminal cases against the farmer.
