Kakani Vows To Continue Fight Against Government

Kakani accused the government of introducing practices never seen before in the state

Nellore:Former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, who was released on bail from Nellore jail on Wednesday, asserted that his fight against the coalition government’s “authoritarian rule” would continue despite arrests and cases filed against him.

Speaking to the media after his release, accompanied by his daughter Poojitha, MLC Parvata Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy and other YSRC leaders, Kakani alleged that the government was misusing power to suppress dissenting voices.

“Filing false cases and making illegal arrests will not scare me. The attempt to silence voices raised for the people is foolishness on the part of Chandrababu Naidu. The more they try to suppress us, the stronger we will rise to question their misdeeds,” he said.

Kakani accused the government of introducing practices never seen before in the state. “For the first time in Nellore’s history, a person who has served as ZP chairman, MLA twice and minister has been jailed. They filed six social media cases against me and issued seven PT warrants. During my tenure as minister, I never filed a case against anyone who criticised me. But after this coalition came to power, they not only registered cases but also filed chargesheets, and even reopened them after a year under the pretext of inquiry,” he alleged.

Giving examples of what he called “ridiculous cases,” Kakani said, “They alleged that I distributed liquor for votes and attacked someone who questioned me. Yet, no such incident was ever reported in print, electronic or social media. They even accused me of planting bombs in the Sarvepalli reservoir, but the magistrate rejected the remand.”

The former minister said he had sought bail purely on legal grounds and never cited health issues. He condemned the attack on the house of former minister Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy and the arrests of his followers.

“This government’s strange and vindictive attitude will be exposed. These jails, cases and arrests may temporarily stop us, but they cannot prevent us from reaching our goal. We will continue to fight against the anti-people’s policies of this coalition government, and I am fully prepared – mentally and physically – to lead this struggle,” Kakani said.

He expressed gratitude to YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for standing by him during his jail term. “Despite restrictions, Jagan garu came to meet me in jail, which gave me and my family great strength. While I was in jail for three months, Somireddy and his son looted Sarvepalli without control. There will be inquiries in the future and those who looted will have to return every rupee,” he warned.

Kakani also thanked his daughter Poojitha, party MLCs, leaders and cadre who supported him during his imprisonment.
