Kadiri Temple EO Suspended Over Ornaments Theft

ANANTAPUR: V. Muralakrishna, an executive officer who was allegedly caught red-handed while stealing 5 kgs of silver ornaments and other valuables from the historic Erradoddi Gangamma temple in Kadiri mandal in the Satya Sai district, was arrested and sent for remand based on a complaint filed by the devotees.

As the issue gained attention across the state, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reacted angrily and ordered the endowments commissioner to take stringent action against the executive officer. The authorities also suspended the official.

Muralakrishna was caught red-handed by the devotees while taking away 5 kg worth of silver ornaments offered by the devotees to the Goddess Gangamma two days ago and handed over to police. Kadiri rural police seized the silver ornaments, two grams of gold, and also 15 silk saris from his possession while shifting from the temple in an autorickshaw on Sunday. The devotees handed over EO and also his family members to the police, seeking action.

A departmental probe was also ordered on the official who was allegedly involved in such issues when he worked in other temples.
