KADAPA: A detailed investigation into the deaths of Obulesu and Koduru Satish has concluded that the two men died accidentally by drowning and were not murdered, police said.
Proddatur ASP Vibhu Krishna said the investigation was conducted from all possible angles following prolonged protests and representations by Madiga Dandora leaders, who had suspected foul play in the deaths reported on February 5.
Addressing the media, the ASP said police examined station records, evidence collected from the scene, witness statements, CCTV footage, post-mortem reports, forensic material, digital evidence and technical reports submitted by the water resources department.
According to the investigation, both victims were together before entering the canal, while a person identified as Santosh had witnessed the incident. A digital forensic examination also revealed thumbnails related to the period when the victims were in the water.
The post-mortem reports of both men clearly established that they died due to drowning while they were alive, police said. The investigation found no evidence of murder or conspiracy, with the technical, digital and medical evidence corroborating each other, the ASP said.
