Anantapur: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA) and Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Sweden, have announced admissions to a four-year integrated dual degree programme for engineering students.
Vice-chancellor Prof. H. Sudarshana Rao and Registrar Prof. S. Krishnaiah handed over admission letters to students selected for the programme at the Vice-Chancellor’s chamber.
Under the dual degree arrangement, students will pursue three years of their engineering course at JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur, and their final year at BTH, Sweden. Upon completion, JNTUA will award a B.Tech degree and BTH will confer a B.S. degree.
Students wishing to pursue an M.S. can continue at BTH with two additional years of coursework, after which they will receive the M.S. degree from the Swedish university.
Prof. Sudarshana Rao noted that the dual degree programme has been running successfully for the past four years. To provide global opportunities for students in the region, 16 seats were offered this year—13 in Computer Science and Engineering and 3 in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Notably, the first batch of 15 students admitted under this collaboration received their student visas and are scheduled to begin classes in Sweden by January 15. Five students have already reached Sweden, while the rest are expected to travel shortly.
JNTUA launched the dual degree programme in 2021 following an MoU with BTH. Initially, 30 seats were offered—10 each in Computer Science, ECE, and Mechanical Engineering.
