Jana Sena Rebel Files Nomination for Narsipatnam Municipal Chief Against TDP Ally

In the seat-sharing discussions held on Thursday, it had been decided that TD will contest the chairperson’s post in Narsipatnam municipality: REports

VISAKHAPATNAM: Former councillor and senior Jana Sena leader Soujanya filed her nomination papers for the post of municipal chairperson from Narsipatnam municipality on Friday against alliance partner TD candidate Chintakayala Padmavathy, wife of AP assembly speaker Ayyanna Patrudu.

In the seat-sharing discussions held on Thursday, it had been decided that TD will contest the Narsipatnam municipality. Accordingly, Padmavathy filed her papers.
The parallel nomination has heated up local politics in Narsipatnam.

Soujanya said she and 15 other candidates are contesting as rebels in protest against what she described as “irregularities in the local political process and the failure to ensure justice in seat allocation.”

She expressed displeasure over the alleged lack of coordination within the alliance. She protested that one faction of the Jana Sena has secured the party's allotted seats, leaving the other faction dissatisfied.

She claimed that she is the only woman to have been elected as a councillor from the Jana Sena Party in north Andhra in the last elections. Yet, she has not been given representation in the ruling alliance's coordination committee.

Dorababu, who is the JSP coordinator for Narsipatnam, told media that he has not been consulted on the seat sharing. He justified the filing of nomination by Soujanya.
Asked whether she would withdraw her nomination if directed by the party high command, Soujanya said she would obey the high command. But she recalled high command suggesting

that nominations could be filed if injustice is done.
Former municipal chairperson Chintakayala Anitha, wife of Chintkayala Sanyasi Naidu, younger brother of Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu, has filed her nomination for the Narsipatnam

municipal chairperson’s post as the YSRC nominee.
Reports said 14 Jana Sena workers have filed papers for the posts of councillors in the Narsipatnam municipality.
