Tirupati: YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is to visit Nellore district on July 31 to meet senior party leaders facing legal and political pressure following the change of guard in the state.
As per the schedule, Jagan will leave from Tadepalli by helicopter and arrive in Nellore by 10.45 am. He is expected to proceed directly to the Central Prison to meet former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, who is currently in judicial custody over multiple allegations linked to his previous tenure, including the alleged illegal quartz mining case.
Following this, Jagan will visit former Kovur MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy to extend solidarity. Prasanna’s residence was vandalised two weeks ago in the aftermath of remarks he made against MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy.
Nellore city party president and MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy stated that all necessary permissions have been obtained from the district authorities for both the helicopter landing and the prison meeting by the former chief minister.
The visit comes at a time when the party is grappling with setbacks after the recent elections and facing pressure over ongoing investigations involving several of its former legislators. Party leaders hope Jagan’s presence will help lift the morale of supporters and reinforce internal unity.
