Jagan Supporting Leaders Who Disrespect Women: Kovur MLA
Prashanthi Reddy says YSRC’s support for controversial figures reflects poor values and led to downfall
Nellore: Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy on Thursday strongly criticised former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for supporting leaders like N. Prasanna Kumar Reddy, who made disrespectful remarks against women.
Speaking to media at her residence in Nellore on Thursday, she questioned the message Jagan is trying to send to society by standing with such individuals. “Supporting people who insult women is against basic values. Is this the culture YSRC wants to promote,” she asked.
The Kovur MLA went on to accuse Jagan Mohan Reddy of hindering the development of Andhra Pradesh. She compared Jagan with the mythological character Shakuni. She went on to call Nellore YSRC leader Anil Kumar and Prasanna Kumar as Shakunis of Nellore.
Prashanthi Reddy observed that it is such actions that have led to the downfall of YSRC, which got reduced to just 11 seats in the state.
The Kovur MLA expressed anger over Jagan’s criticism of MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, saying it is unfair and based on a “script written by others.” She praised Prabhakar Reddy’s efforts towards providing jobs to rural youth by investing Rs 500 crore in an industrial project. She accused “low-minded people” of trying to sabotage this industrial project.
Prashanthi Reddy praised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, saying law and order is improving and development is back on track.
