Jagan Slams Naidu Over Mayor Post Row

In a post on social media platform X, Jagan criticised the alleged coercive tactics used to oust a BC woman from the mayor post. “The people gave a clear mandate—YSRC won 58 out of 98 seats.

Vijayawada: YSR Congress chief and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday accused TD chief and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of engaging in manipulative politics to overturn the people's mandate in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).

In a post on social media platform X, Jagan criticised the alleged coercive tactics used to oust a BC woman from the mayor post. “The people gave a clear mandate—YSRC won 58 out of 98 seats. How can the coalition claim the mayor post?” he questioned, tagging Naidu.

Jagan said the YSRC had given the mayor position to a Yadava woman, but the TD-led coalition used official machinery, police, threats, and money to sway the outcome. He also alleged that TD leaders attacked a location where YSRC corporators were staying. “There’s CCTV footage. This is undemocratic and a blatant misuse of power,” he said, adding that elections are due in a year, and such acts reveal TDP’s disregard for democracy.

He praised YSRC corporators and a Left party member for resisting pressure and standing for justice, and lauded the party cadre for their unwavering loyalty.
