Jagan Alleges Political Vendetta And Misuse Of Power By Naidu

“Times will change, and when we return to office, those misusing power will face the consequences”: Jagan Mohan Reddy

VIJAYAWADA: Former chief minister and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has described the attack on Krishna district Zilla Parishad chairperson Uppala Harika as the height of sadism and a gross misuse of power by the Chandrababu Naidu-led government. He strongly condemned what he termed as a continued spree of assaults on opposition leaders.

In a post on social media platform X, Jagan Mohan Reddy said lawlessness prevails in the state with Telugu Desam Party (TD) supporters allegedly attacking YSRC cadre and women. “This is a shameless act and a blatant misuse of power and the police, purely for political vendetta,” he alleged.

He further stated, “Orders were issued from the leadership to attack Uppala Harika, including the use of abusive language, all in the presence of police. This reflects the current level of governance. It is a draconian rule. As the Opposition party, we have the democratic right to conduct meetings. Placing leaders under house arrest and attacking party workers shows Chandrababu’s sadism and mean style of governance.”

The former chief minister alleged similar action was taken against former MLA Kethireddy Pedda Reddy in Tadipatri, Anantapur district, who was reportedly prevented from returning to his constituency despite a High Court directive. “He was whisked away from his home at gunpoint,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said.

He added that the residence of six-time MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy was also attacked in a premeditated manner by TD supporters in Nellore, again allegedly in the presence of police. “Ironically, a counter-case was filed against Prasanna, the victim, while no action was taken against the MLA responsible for the attack,” he added.

Jagan claimed that Naidu has brought back factional politics and is pursuing a campaign of false cases against YSRC leaders, including Kakani Govardhan Reddy, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Peddireddy Mithun Reddy, Nandigam Suresh, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, and Posani Krishna Murali. He said the Chief Minister must take responsibility for these alleged atrocities. “Times will change, and when we return to office, those misusing power will face the consequences,” he warned.
