ISRO Releases NISAR S-Band SAR Data for Public Access
ISRO has opened public access to NISAR S-band SAR data, enabling researchers to use advanced satellite datasets for disaster management, agriculture and environmental monitoring.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has released the NISAR S-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) daily processed data products through its earth observation data portal Bhoonidhi, providing researchers and users access to advanced earth observation datasets.
The NASA- Isro Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission, the world's first dual-frequency (L-band and S-band) radar satellite, is currently in its science operations phase, delivering all-weather, high-resolution imaging of Earth's surface with a 12-day repeat cycle. S-band SAR data are acquired through Isro ground stations and processed at the Integrated Multi-Mission Ground Segment for Earth Observation Satellites (IMGEOS) at NRSC, Shadnagar.
Isro said all S-band SAR products acquired from Cycle 25, which began on July 8, 2026, are now being generated from the operational production system and made available for download, while earlier datasets will be reprocessed and added to the archive in phases.
The released products include standard SAR datasets, interferometric products and pixel offset products to support applications such as disaster management, environmental monitoring, agriculture, land-use studies and geohazard assessment.
Registered users can search, visualise and download NISAR datasets through the Bhoonidhi portal, which also offers tools for data conversion, geospatial analysis and SAR processing to facilitate scientific research and operational applications.
