ISRO Associations Seek Meeting With Space Secretary Over Privatisation Concerns
The associations requested a structured interaction with the secretary or joint secretary (Personnel) to seek clarity on contentious matters.

Nellore:The Joint Action Council (JAC) of nine service associations of the Department of Space and Isro units has sought an early meeting with Department of Space secretary and Isro chairman Dr V. Narayanan to discuss various issues.
The employees are concerned over the future role of Isro, technology transfer and possible privatisation of launch vehicle manufacturing and operational functions.
In a letter dated October 7, the JAC said recent video-conference interactions with the employees had not adequately addressed their concerns regarding the future mandate of Isro, transfer of manufacturing and operational functions, staffing, recruitment and employee safeguards.
The associations expressed concern over reports that launch vehicle manufacturing, including LVM3, satellite manufacturing and operations of new launch infrastructure could increasingly involve private entities. They maintained that Isro’s core capabilities in launch-vehicle design, integration, testing and launch operations should remain under effective public control.
The JAC also raised its concern over alleged cadre-review anomalies and stagnation, delayed recruitment and attrition, manpower shortages, concentration of functional positions, delays in vigilance clearance for PRIS (Performance Related Incentive Scheme) and weakening of joint consultative mechanisms.
The associations requested a structured interaction with the secretary or joint secretary (Personnel) to seek clarity on contentious matters.
