IPS Officer Sunil Kumar’s Suspension Extended By Another Six Months
Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand issued G.O. Rt: 1569 on Tuesday, keeping Sunil Kumar under suspension until February 24, 2026, or until further orders: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has extended the suspension of senior P.V. Sunil Kumar for another six months, citing ongoing disciplinary proceedings and criminal investigations. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand issued G.O. Rt: 1569 on Tuesday, keeping Sunil Kumar under suspension until February 24, 2026, or until further orders. IPS officer Sunil Kumar, a 1993-batch officer, was initially placed under suspension on March 2 on allegations of multiple unauthorised foreign visits and deviation from government-approved travel plans. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs later confirmed the suspension, following which Articles of Charge were issued against him.
A Review Committee, constituted to assess suspension cases of IPS officers, reviewed his case on multiple occasions. The committee observed that revoking Sunil Kumar’s suspension at this stage could enable him to tamper with evidence and influence the ongoing inquiries.
Acting on its recommendation, the AP government has extended Sunil Kumar’s suspension for another 180 days.
