Intermediate Girl Student Murdered in Kadapa

Kadapa district in-charge minister Savita condemned the murder

ANANTAPUR: An Intermediate girl student was murdered by a youth from the same village at Agraharam in Kajipet mandal of Kadapa district on Friday.

The deceased had recently completed her second year at AP Model School, Kajipeta. The accused, Venkatesh, 19, allegedly held a grudge after she refused his love and marriage proposal.

According to sources, Venkatesh entered her house when she was alone and slit her throat. Her parents had gone to agricultural fields for work. Her father Ramakrishna, who returned home later, found her in a pool of blood and rushed her to hospital, but she died on the way.

On being alerted, Mydukur police took the accused into custody and are questioning him. Further investigation is underway. Police said the accused had been harassing the victim over a one-sided love affair and attacked her in a fit of rage after she rejected him.

Tension prevailed in the village as the incident triggered anger among villagers, who demanded stringent punishment.

Kadapa district in-charge minister Savita condemned the murder, terming it “inhuman and barbaric.” She assured strict action against the accused and reiterated the government’s commitment to women’s safety, while extending condolences to the bereaved family.
