Inspired By Vajpayee, Lokesh Calls For Values In Politics

“He is the only leader facing no charges of corruption. He believed in values, not in political positions”: AP Education minister N. Lokesh

VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam national general secretary and AP Education minister N. Lokesh on Tuesday stressed on value-based politics, saying he has been inspired in this regard by former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

Addressing a public meeting at Machilipatnam in Krishna district as part of the NDA coalition government’s Atal Behari Good Governance Tour, Lokesh said, “I have a special fondness towards our former prime minister Vajpayee, as he practised politics with values.

“He is the only leader facing no charges of corruption. He believed in values, not in political positions,” the AP minister maintained.

He credited the former PM for taking up an atomic test for the security of India and teaching a befitting lesson to Pakistan through the Kargil war. Lokesh said though he has not met Vajpayee in person, he could see the relationship between the former prime minister and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as that of a father and son.

The AP minister lauded Vajpayee for extending all help to AP when Naidu was the CM. He said, “The whole Telugu race is indebted to the former PM for helping Andhra Pradesh and initiating reforms keeping in mind the future needs.”

Similarly, Lokesh said, AP is developing in a big way under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Naidu.

Earlier, AP BJP chief P.V.N. Madhav described Vajpayee as the leader without having any black mark in his 70 years of political life. He lauded the former PM for governing India without any graft.
