Industries Minister Bharat Reviews Revival Progress At Vizag Steel
The RINL team gave the minister a comprehensive presentation, outlining the plant’s evolution, recent milestones, and its future roadmap.

Visakhapatnam: Minister for industries, commerce and food processing, T.G. Bharat, visited the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL) on Tuesday and held detailed discussions with its directors and senior officials.
The RINL team gave the minister a comprehensive presentation, outlining the plant’s evolution, recent milestones, and its future roadmap. Bharat appreciated the efforts of RINL employees and stakeholders in reviving operations and steering the plant back towards recovery.
He noted with satisfaction that RINL had significantly ramped up production since September 2024 — progressing from operating a single blast furnace to all three being functional by July 2025. He expressed confidence that, with the stabilisation of Blast Furnace-3, the plant was on track to achieve 100 per cent capacity utilisation and reclaim its leadership position in the steel sector.
The minister advised RINL to adopt cost-saving strategies such as installing floating solar power units and undertaking technological de-bottlenecking to boost operational efficiency. He also assured full support from the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Later, the minister visited the model room and key production units, where he lauded the dedication and commitment of the RINL workforce.
Bharat further stated that the issue of captive mines would be taken up with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the central government. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting the plant’s revival.
