Indonesian Consul General Explores Trade Ties With AP

Wardoyo said AP has strong capabilities in agriculture, food processing and manufacturing, and highlighted the facilitation measures and advantages offered by Indonesia to exporters from the state.

VIJAYAWADA: Consul General of Indonesia in Mumbai, Eddy Wardoyo, held discussions here on Friday with the AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation, on trade and investment ties between AP and his country.

Wardoyo said AP has strong capabilities in agriculture, food processing and manufacturing, and highlighted the facilitation measures and advantages offered by Indonesia to exporters from the state.

Both sides noted the significant potential to expand bilateral trade, with secondary and tertiary food processing identified as a key area of collaboration due to complementarities between the two regions.

The consul general expressed his keen interest in working closely with the AP Chambers and identified priority sectors for cooperation, including agriculture, food processing, value-added aqua products, palm oil, education and manufacturing.

He said the Indonesian government provided market intelligence to Indian exporters and facilitated business matchmaking with Indonesian companies. Indonesia also offers attractive incentives in key sectors and operated Special Economic Zones with zero import and export duties, he said.

Briefing the media, AP chambers president Potluri Bhaskar Rao said, “It was suggested that structured matchmaking exercises be organised between exporters and importers from Andhra Pradesh and Indonesia to accelerate trade flows.”

He said the emerging possibility of local currency and rupee-based trade was seen as a positive development.

At the meeting, the chambers functionaries agreed to identify around 20 interested enterprises and, in coordination with the Indonesian Consulate, organise a virtual interaction to promote exports and business collaborations.
