Visakhapatnam: The Indian Navy has launched the fifth edition of the Indo-Indonesian joint bilateral maritime exercise, Samudra Shakti – 2025, here, underscoring the deepening maritime partnership between the two nations.
The four-day exercise from October 14 to 17 brings together INS Kavaratti, an anti-submarine warfare corvette from the Eastern Fleet under the Eastern Naval Command and the Indonesian Navy ship, KRI John Lie -- a corvette equipped with an integral helicopter.
The Indonesian vessel received a warm reception upon its arrival here.
The exercise comprises two distinct phases designed to enhance operational coordination between the two navies. The harbour phase includes activities focused on building camaraderie and professional relationships, featuring cross-deck visits, joint yoga sessions, friendly sports competitions and professional expert exchanges.
The sea phase would test the navies' capabilities through complex maritime operations, including helicopter operations, air defence exercises, weapon firing drills, and Visit-Board-Search and Seizure exercises aimed at improving tactical coordination.
