Tirupati:The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour across Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore, and Prakasam districts on Friday.

In Tirupati, minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy hoisted the flat at the Tarakarama Stadium.
After receiving the guard of honour, he presented the district’s progress report, stating that the GSDP is targeted to increase from Rs 91,478 crore to Rs 1,69,633 crore with a growth rate of 16.69 per cent under the Swarna Andhra Vision Plan.
The minister said the district’s per capita income is projected to reach `6,01,297 by 2028–29, highlighting the establishment of 131 large industries with `37,154 crore investment. This, he said, would create 75,791 jobs, while 5,886 MSMEs would generate 12,129 jobs this year.
Future plans include developing the temple circuit and beach tourism.
The municipal corporation of Tirupati tableau won the first prize. Merit certificates were presented to government staff.
In Nellore, minister P Narayana hoisted the flag at the Police Parade Grounds. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to transparent governance, technology-driven development etc.
He said the district cultivated over 1.35 lakh acres this kharif season, with irrigation support from Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs. Work on the Ramayapatnam port was progressing and this would generate about 30,000 jobs, he claimed.
In Chittoor, minister Satya Kumar Yadav led the I-day celebrations at the parade grounds. He said `556 crore was disbursed under the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme to 2,69,805 beneficiaries the past year, while `28.56 crore was credited to 3,34,795 LPG consumers under Deepam-2, and `1,030 crore spent on completing 52,735 houses, the highest in the state.
In Prakasam, minister Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy hoisted the flag at the Ongole police parade grounds. Paying homage to freedom fighters and martyrs, the minister saluted the soldiers and ex-servicemen, acknowledging their role in safeguarding the nation’s borders.
