The advanced crane technology is expected to improve cargo handling performance and support the growing trade requirements of Visakhapatnam Port and its hinterland

Visakhapatnam: Integrated Cargo Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (ICTPL) has commenced commercial operations of a newly inducted Hybrid Mobile Harbour Crane (HMC) at the WQ-6 Terminal of Visakhapatnam Port Authority.

The LHM 425 Hybrid Mobile Harbour Crane handled its first cargo operation aboard MV MP Fortune, unloading 26,260 metric tonnes of ammonium sulphate.

The commissioning of the crane marks a significant investment by ICTPL aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving berth productivity, reducing vessel turnaround time and strengthening cargo evacuation capabilities at the terminal.

According to officials, the advanced crane technology is expected to improve cargo handling performance and support the growing trade requirements of Visakhapatnam Port and its hinterland.

Unlike conventional diesel-powered equipment, the hybrid crane is designed to reduce fuel consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to more sustainable port operations.
