I-Day Celebrations Highlight Industrial Growth in Visakhapatnam
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor.

Visakhapatnam: Public sector industries, port, and Hindustan Shipyard celebrated the 79th Independence Day on their premises in Visakhapatnam on Friday and recalled the progress they made during the last year. Hoisting the tricolor at shipyard, the CMD of Hindustan Shipyard Ltd Commodore (retd) Girideep Singh lauded employees’ commitment and hard work, which propelled HSL to a historic turnover of Rs.1,471 crore and a PAT of Rs.213 crore in FY 2024-25, the highest since inception, marking the transformation from negative to positive net worth after 40 years and progress towards Mini Ratna status in the coming months.
On the premises of Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Chairman Dr. M. Angamuthu unfurled the flag and administered an oath to the employees to campaign against drugs. Dr. M. Angamuthu, chairperson of the VPA, while addressing the ceremony, informed that VPA was committed to supporting the nation’s efforts in creating a healthier and drug addiction-free nation and, in this context, informed that VPA has conducted an awareness campaign at CEMS and IMU, where students in large numbers participated.

Director of Personnel, Dr. Suresh Chandra Pandey, highlighting the recent developments at the plant, stated that the restart of Blast Furnace-3 marked a significant milestone — not merely an operational success, but a testament to employees' resilience and unwavering determination to progress.
Waltair division manager Lalit Bohra highlighted the division's impressive achievements and said till July this year, gross revenue crossed Rs.3,600 crore, 14 percent higher than last year and 6 percent above target. NTPC Simhadri, HPCL’s Visakh Refinery, and other units also celebrated Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic spirit.
