HRF Condemns Police For Beating Up 3 Persons On Road In Tenali

Human Rights Forum (HRF) on Tuesday condemned police for brutally beating up three persons at Tenali in violation of their constitutional rights.

Vijayawada:Human Rights Forum (HRF) on Tuesday condemned police for brutally beating up three persons at Tenali in violation of their constitutional rights.

HRF state leaders G. Siva Nageswara Rao, Y. Rajesh and G. Rohith said HRF has lodged a complaint seeking action under the BNS and the SC / ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the erring police officers of Tenali I/II/III police stations related to brutal beating of three persons on the road.

They said in a video that emerged on May 26, 2025, two police personnel can be seen beating three young men in public. The video is reportedly from April 25 this year when four youth – Naveen, John Victor, Karimulla and Rakesh – had been booked under various sections of BNS following a complaint by Kanna Chiranjeevi, a constable with Tenali I Town Police Station. The complainant alleged that the four young men had attacked him while on duty on April 24 owing to past animosity.

Following the complaint, an FIR had been registered at the Tenali II Town Police Station. However, the HRF said, instead of adhering to due process, the police resorted to public trashing, ostensibly to teach them a lesson.

HRF leaders said whatever the nature of the alleged crime of the youth, police have no right to beat them up in public. They pointed out that the constitution and law lay out clear procedures to deal with any offender.

They demanded that the police personnel involved be identified, suspended and charged under the relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the SC / ST (PoA) Act.
