Home Minister Orders Probe Into APSEZ Unit Fire

“Fire safety officials rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control,” she said

Visakhapatnam: Home and disaster management minister Vangalapudi Anitha directed officials to submit a comprehensive report within two days on the fire accident that occurred on Saturday at SVS Chemical Industries in Achyutapuram of Rambilli mandal, located in the Andhra Pradesh Special Economic Zone (APSEZ).

On Sunday morning, the minister, along with Elamanchili MLA Sundarapu Vijayakumar, inspected the accident site to assess the situation and review safety measures at the unit.

During the inspection, Anitha questioned company representatives and officials about the circumstances that led to the fire. She expressed strong displeasure over the incident and sought explanations, particularly regarding the alleged storage of chemicals beyond the permitted limits.

The minister instructed officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the accident and submit a detailed report on the causes and any safety lapses within two days.

“Fire safety officials rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control,” she said, adding that steps were being taken to prevent such incidents in the future. She also warned that legal action would be initiated against those responsible for the incident.
