Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad to be Displayed in Vijayawada

Mosque authorities have invited Muslim devotees to participate in the observance during the scheduled timings

VIJAYAWADA: The holy relic of Prophet Muhammad preserved at the Jumma Masjid Waqf on Canal Road here will be opened for public viewing on the occasion of Meelad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of the Prophet.

Jumma Masjid Waqf authorities said Muslim men would be allowed to view the relic from 4.30 pm on Wednesday (August 26), while Muslim women could view it on Thursday (August 27).

Jumma Masjid Waqf Mutawalli Mir Shah Noor, who is also the custodian of the relic, will open the special room for public viewing on both days.

Before the room is opened, the Khatib (chief priest) of Jumma Masjid Waqf, Janab Moulana Mohammed Abdul Mustafa Razvi, will deliver a sermon on the life and teachings of Prophet Hazrath Mohammed.

The annual display will provide members of the Muslim community an opportunity to pay their respects to the relic as part of the Meelad-un-Nabi celebrations. Mosque authorities have invited Muslim devotees to participate in the observance during the scheduled timings.
