High-Power Committees, Health Cards and Fee Concessions: Govt Announces Welfare Measures for Journalists

Kakinada: Labour minister Vasamsetti Subhash announced that the alliance government would appoint high-power committees in all districts of the state to ensure the protection of journalists. These committees will be headed by the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police.

Speaking as chief guest at the APUWJ Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District General Body meeting held at Ramachandrapuram on Saturday, the minister said the government would also reinstate health cards for journalists. He added that efforts would be made to secure a 50 per cent fee concession in corporate schools for the children of journalists.
He further stated that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu planned to allot house sites to journalists and that a special medical camp would soon be organised for journalists and their families in Ramachandrapuram.
The meeting was presided over by former East Godavari APUWJ president K. Swathi Prasad.
