High Court Warns Against Unauthorised Constructions in Tirumala

Tirupati: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has issued a strict directive stating that unauthorised constructions in Tirumala cannot be allowed. The court specifically reviewed the construction of a building by the Visakha Sharada Peetham in the Gogarbham area, warning that it could order its demolition if found in violation of norms.
The bench expressed concern over how such activities were carried out without necessary approvals. It emphasised that this case should serve as a warning about the repercussions of unauthorised construction.
The PIL against the building was filed by Tumma Omkar, president of the Tirumala Kshetra Protection Committee. He alleged inaction by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) despite illegal activities. Earlier, the court had ordered a halt to construction by the Peetham.
During Wednesday’s hearing, the TTD board’s resolution to seize the Sharada Peetham building was discussed. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the building plan was violated, while the Peetham's counsel sought additional time to file a counter. The court granted this request and adjourned the hearing.
