High Court Asks For Guntur Court’s Certified Copy In Pawan Kalyan Case

Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday directed the petitioner to submit the certified copy of orders issued by the Guntur court withdrawing prosecution against Jana Sena president K. Pawan Kalyan.

Vijayawada:Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday directed the petitioner to submit the certified copy of orders issued by the Guntur court withdrawing prosecution against Jana Sena president K. Pawan Kalyan. The High Court then posted the next hearing in the case after two weeks.

A single judge bench headed by Justice Y. Lakshmana Rao held a hearing on a review petition filed by Sarala and three others challenging the Guntur court order to withdraw the prosecution against Pawan Kalyan.

When Pawan Kalyan took up his “Varahi Yatra” in Andhra Pradesh ahead of the 2024 General Elections, he had made critical remarks against the volunteers working for AP stating the data they are collecting from people is falling into the hands of anti-social elements. Based on this, the JS president raised concerns over abduction of women and girls.

In this regard, the then YSR Congress government, through the public prosecutor, filed a criminal case against Pawan Kalyan in February 2024 in the Guntur court.

At the time, five volunteers filed their affidavits in the court claiming that their signatures had been taken before filing petitions in the court that the Jana Sena leader’s remarks had undermined their prestige.

The Guntur court, after taking up hearing in the case, gave permission to withdraw prosecution against Pawan Kalyan in November, 2024.
