Heavy Rain Inundates Crops, Disrupts Traffic in East Godavari

Hyderabad: Heavy rains disrupted normal life in several parts of East Godavari district, inundating thousands of acres of paddy fields and causing traffic interruptions.
At Kovvada in Tallapudi mandal, nearly 2,000 acres of paddy fields were submerged, leaving farmers worried about crop losses. In Gopalapuram, streams and rivulets are overflowing following the heavy rains.

The Alli canal between Kovvurupadu and Dondapudi is also flowing at high levels. At the outskirts of Peddapuram, the overflowing Peddacheruvu submerged nearly 200 acres of paddy fields.
Meanwhile, a large tree was uprooted on the highway at Dubacherla in Nallajerla mandal, disrupting traffic for some time.
The Rajamahendravaram Urban Tahsildar's office was severely inundated after drainage water entered the premises following overnight rain. Water entered the tahsildar's chamber and staff rooms. Employees took steps to protect important records from getting wet and continued their duties despite the waterlogging.
