Heavy Inflows Into Srisailam Continue

KURNOOL: Heavy inflows into the Srisailam reservoir are continuing from the Jurala and Sunkesula projects. On Sunday, the project received 1,78,101 cusecs. To regulate the water levels, irrigation officials released 1,77,936 cusecs through three radial crest gates. The reservoir currently holds 196.56 tmcft of water against its full reservoir level (FRL) of 215.80 tmcft.

According to officials, the reservoir is receiving 40,059 cusecs from Jurala, 42,048 cusecs from the spillway and 35,200 cusecs from Sunkesula project. On the release side, 30,000 cusecs are being diverted to the Pothireddypadu head regulator, 32,425 cusecs to canals, 30,492 cusecs to the right powerhouse and 35,315 cusecs to the left bank powerhouse for power generation. In addition, 79,704 cusecs are being discharged through the spillway.

Meanwhile, the Sunkesula barrage is receiving 51,000 cusecs and discharging 51,812 cusecs. As of 7 p.m. on Sunday, the barrage had 70 per cent storage, holding 0.84 tmcft against its FRL of 1.20 tmcft.
