Health Minister Orders Probe Into Death of Two Patients

Vijayawada: Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has ordered an inquiry into the death of two patients in the government hospitals in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

Renuka Mohanty, 63 from S. Kota mandal of Vizianagaram district was admitted to the KGH in Visakhapatnam with GBS symptoms on February 6 and she died in the course of treatment on Feb 17. Her relatives alleged negligence by doctors. The KGH medical superintendent denied such charges and claimed that she died of a heart attack.
In the second case, Sunita, 35 of G Kondur mandal in NTR district, died on Feb 17 soon after her admission to the government hospital in Vijayawada. Her relatives put the blame on doctors. The hospital superintendent denied the charges and said she was suffering from diabetes for 15 years and hypothyroid for five years.
