Health Minister Orders Probe Into Careless Handling of Amputated Leg

Vijayawada:Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav has ordered an inquiry into a stray dog picking up an amputated leg of a patient from the new government hospital in Vijayawada on Thursday.
Expressing anger over the incident, the minister said the incident is serious, as there is a proper protocol in place in dealing with bio-medical waste.
Satya Kumar instructed Medical Education director Dr. Radhika Reddy to take up an inquiry and initiate departmental action against the concerned sanitation, security and supervisory staff members.
Further, the minister wanted a comprehensive report on the incident. He maintained that in coordination with municipal authorities, hospitals must ensure that there are no stray dogs on any hospital premises.
