Head Constable Arrested For Aiding Red Sandalwood Smugglers

NELLORE: In a major action against internal misconduct, the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) on Saturday arrested a head constable for allegedly providing information to red sandalwood smugglers.
The accused, identified as T. Sathiraju, was working as a head constable (AR) in the Task Force. Acting on instructions from RSASTF head L. Subbarayudu, the arrest was carried out under the leadership of Task Force SP P. Srinivas, with supervision by ASP J. Kulashekhar and guidance from DSP MD Sharif. A team led by RI Sai Giridhar kept the constable under surveillance and gathered evidence of his involvement.
During the investigation, officials found that Sathiraju was allegedly passing sensitive information to smugglers and receiving money in return. Based on confirmed evidence, he was arrested, and a case was registered against him under Crime No. 63/2025. Reacting to the arrest, RSASTF SP P. Srinivas warned that wrongdoing within the department will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He said strict departmental action would also be initiated against those found guilty. The SP added that suspicious activities of employees are being closely monitored and urged personnel to act with integrity and perform their duties honestly.
