Anantapur: In view of the ongoing tussle between the YSRC and the TD—particularly within the Kadapa Municipal Corporation—the High Court has reportedly directed civic authorities not to take any action for a period of ten days in connection with the disqualification notice served to Mayor Suresh Babu.
It may be noted that Kadapa Mayor Suresh Babu of the YSRC and Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy of the TD have clashed repeatedly within the Corporation, with tensions escalating during council meetings over the denial of a chair for the lone MLA.
Further, TD leaders have accused the Mayor of large-scale irregularities, prompting Corporation authorities to issue a disqualification order on April 28. The Mayor subsequently approached the High Court to challenge the decision.
According to YSRC sources, the court directed that no action be taken against the Mayor for ten days and instructed him to submit a reply within fifteen days. Meanwhile, the Mayor’s counsel has requested the High Court to grant an additional three weeks to file the response.
