HC Gives Relief to Ex-Speaker Tammineni, Wife, Turns Down Son’s Plea
The High Court directed Sitaram and his wife to appear before the Amadalavalasa Rural Police on July 29 in connection with the case.

Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to former Speaker and senior YSRC leader Tammineni Sitaram and his wife Tammineni Vani in an alleged land grab case involving their family and eight others. However, the court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of their son, Tammineni Chiranjeevi Nag.
The High Court directed Sitaram and his wife to appear before the Amadalavalasa Rural Police on July 29 in connection with the case.
The case relates to the alleged illegal transfer of a parcel of land in Amadalavalasa, Srikakulam district, valued at around ₹3 crore to ₹4 crore. According to investigators, the accused allegedly conspired to grab the property by creating forged documents, including a fake death certificate of the original landowner and fabricated legal heir certificates, to facilitate its transfer and registration.
Police have booked 13 persons, including Sitaram, his wife, son, a sub-registrar and several private individuals. So far, eight accused have been arrested and remanded, while efforts are continuing to trace the remaining accused.
Police said Sitaram and his family were unavailable after the case was registered and had allegedly left behind their mobile phones and two vehicles before approaching the High Court for anticipatory bail.
Meanwhile, the bail petition of former minister Seediri Appala Raju is scheduled to come up for hearing before the Munsif Magistrate Court in Palasa on Tuesday. He has been accused of allegedly tampering with evidence in a road accident case involving his son, who is accused of fatally knocking down a 50-year-old man while riding a motorcycle.
