Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to serve notices under CrPC Section 41(a) to former minister Vidadala Rajini and her personal assistant Ramakrishna, and to seek an explanation from them.
A single-judge bench headed by Justice T. Mallikarjuna Rao conducted a hearing on Friday on a petition filed by former minister Rajini, her brother-in-law Gopinath, and her PA Ramakrishna, seeking anticipatory bail in a case registered by the ACB on charges of extortion.
The court directed the petitioners to cooperate with the investigation and to submit details of their residence to the investigating officer within a week.
The ACB booked the case following a complaint lodged by N. Chalapathi Rao, managing partner of Lakshmi Balaji Stone Crushers, against the ex-minister and others, alleging extortion of ₹2.20 crore under the guise of inspections by vigilance and enforcement authorities over alleged irregularities.
