Hanuman Jayanti Celebrated With Religious Fervour in Tirumala, Tirupati
The Bedi Anjaneya Swamy Temple holds special significance, as the idol of Lord Hanuman appears in handcuffs

TIRUPATI: Temples across Tirumala and Tirupati celebrated the Hanuman Jayanti with religious fervour on Tuesday, with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) organising special pujas and rituals at various Anjaneya Swamy temples.
At the Bedi Anjaneya Swamy Temple opposite the Tirumala shrine, priests performed Panchamrutha Abhishekam using milk, curd, honey, coconut water, and sandal paste. They offered to the deity special Archana, Harathi and Naivedyam deity. TTD executive officer (EO) M. Ravichandra and additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary participated in the rituals.
The Bedi Anjaneya Swamy Temple holds special significance, as the idol of Lord Hanuman appears in handcuffs. According to the temple lore, Hanuman’s mother Anjana Devi tied him there and asked him to remain at the place until her return. As she never returned, the deity continued to appear in a bound form, giving the temple its unique identity.
Special pujas have also been conducted at the Konerugattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple near the Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy temple. Rituals and Asthanam have been performed for the Sri Prasanna Anjaneya Swamy Statue located at the Seventh Mile on the down ghat road amid Vedic chanting, Nadaswaram and Dolu performances. Devotees received prasadam at the end of the rituals.
The TTD EO and Additional EO offered Pattu Vastrams to Japali Anjaneya Swamy at Japali Theertham on behalf of the temple administration. Speaking to media on the occasion, Venkaiah Chowdary said they have been continuing this tradition during the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations over the past several years.
Special pujas and Abhishekams have also been performed at various TTD-run temples in Tirupati, including the Yeduru Anjaneya Swamy Temple near Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple, Matha Anjaneya Swamy Temple on Gandhi Road, Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy Temple near the Old Huzur Office, Bhakta Anjaneya Swamy Temple near Alipiri Sripada Mandapam, and the Abhaya Hasta Anjaneya Swamy Temple located within the Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple complex.
