GVMC Wins Operation Clean Sweep Award
Garg said the award reflected the government's commitment to building a clean, healthy and prosperous Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has won the Operation Clean Sweep Award under the state government's flagship Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra programme.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu presented the award to GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg during the 18th Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra programme held at the NTR Stadium Public Arena in Gudivada on Saturday. GVMC was recognised for its performance in the category of cities with a population between three lakh and 10 lakh.
In a statement, Garg said the award reflected the government's commitment to building a clean, healthy and prosperous Andhra Pradesh.
He said GVMC had successfully implemented the Operation Clean Sweep campaign across the city in June in accordance with guidelines issued by the Swachh Andhra Corporation. Weekly cleanliness drives were organised around specific themes, encouraging public participation and coordination among departments.
The commissioner attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of citizens, public representatives, Swachh Andhra Corporation officials, Resident Welfare Associations, voluntary organisations, sanitation workers and GVMC staff.
