State links revenue gains to fresh urban reforms push

VIJAYAWADA: Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Andhra Pradesh posted strong gains in property tax collections in 2025-26, with the state government using the momentum to push a wider urban governance reform agenda at a high-level workshop in Vijayawada on Thursday.
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation was felicitated for recording the highest absolute property tax collection among all ULBs in the state. Among municipal corporations, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati and Rajahmundry were recognised for achieving the highest current year demand collection.
The awards were presented during a state-level workshop organised by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department at the School of Planning and Architecture, attended by 123 municipal commissioners and engineers. The meeting also reviewed civic administration performance and implementation of the new Municipal Solid Waste Rules, 2026.
